Virtual as good as Face to Face
May 18th, 2009 by Steve
So says a study just out from Massachusetts General Hospital. They go on to say, “Someday, even doctor visits could be among the conveniences offered via the Internet. In a comparison of desktop videoconferencing to conventional face-to-face general medical evaluations, patients found virtual visits similar to face-to-face visits on most measures.”
That’s definitely been my experience since I started offering this kind of virtual access beginning in 2007 to my patients through a part of my practice I call Diabetes HouseCall. I work with patients throughout Texas and also Iowa since I am also licensed there although I reside in Texas. We’re in the process of evaluating our own data now and hope to publish results in the next few months.
