Announcing CGMSCENTRAL.COM; a site dedicated to helping people secure reimbursement

November 12th, 2007 by Kevin

CGMSCENTRAL.COM LOGOEmails, Blogs and Groups on the Web are great for some things and not so great for others. Enter the power of the Wiki plus integrated tools for capturing important information and packaging it so that people can quickly and efficiently reference factual information.

That’s what cgmscentral.com is designed to do and its focus is limited to the reimbursement process around the new continuous glucose monitoring systems.

As my family looked into the continuous monitoring sensors, reimbursement is definitely a consideration. As I tried to follow the info available online, I was frustrated by reading the same posts over and over again but never finding all of the information presented logically in a format that was relevant to my particular situation. When you’re talking about reimbursement, it has a lot to do with precedent within not only the policy of my insurance carrier but also the plan type (eg - PPO, POS, HMO, etc…) and my Group#. Try finding that level of detail easily! We needed something more powerful than a blog, email or groups messaging on the web. We needed a focused site with lots of integrated tools.

Thus, the need for CGMSCENTRAL.COM was identified. Over the past several months we used the healthcordia technology platform to create this new patient resource on the web.

So far, several people have stopped by and contributed info from the diabetescgms group on yahoo, members of the childrenwithdiabetes forum and readers of their weekly newsletter, readers of Bernard Farrell’s diabetes blog and most recently readers of Amy Tenderich’s diabetesmine.com blog.

This site is all about the patient, for the patient and most importantly, by the patient. As part of our awareness campaign, cgmscentral is also a proud sponsor of the Desert Dingo race team entered into this year’s Baja 1000 race to beat the desert (& diabetes) as this team is also carrying the flag of the International Diabetes Federation as the Official World Diabetes Day race car.

In the event that reimbursement turns into a long row to hoe, cgmscentral.com will be there to speed things up. In the event that I’m wrong and insurance carriers all decide to pay for this great technology you will all be invited to a virtual party at which point we will shut down cgmscentral.com

Until then, please stop by and register (or contribute your knowledge and experience anonymously) as a member of the growing community at cgmscentral.com
