Getting very excited as the day arrives to head off for one of the biggest diabetes conferences of the year. My presentation is just about final - those darn presos take so much time it’s ridiculous - but for this audience it’s well worth the effort to make sure the message is accurate and precise (ha). I also learned a couple of weeks ago that the other members of my symposium on healthcare extenders include Lois Janovic, Steven Edelman, Meyer Davidson and of course the session is chaired by Satish Garg. What a list of heavy hitters… and me. Guess I better stick to wireless technology, eh? I think they’ll appreciate my perspective though and hopefully everyone gets to learn some new things and walk away enlightened.

The symposium is entitled, “Beyond Health Care Practitioners - Diabetes Health Care Extenders” and my talk is entitled, “Beyond Websites - Mobile Diagnositcs, Rules Engines and Social Networks for Developing SMART Patients”. I’ll be sharing some exciting information including results of our healthcordia program trials showing how in one trial:

Over 77% of our diabetes social networking participants reduced their A1c in excess of 1 full point on average.

The data is coming in now from several trials and it really tells a story about team management. Another stat coming tells us that people who invite people into their healthcordia social network get lower A1c’s than people who don’t invite a social network. The community at Tu Diabetes, now over 150 members strong, probably knows that and now we have the data to prove the value of the social network.
